The Delhi School of Music, a premier institute for the teaching of western music (classical and jazz) in New Delhi, India, is seeking a piano teacher to be part of the school teaching faculty. The appointment will initially be for a period of one year.
Applicants should have a University or Conservatory degree in classical music, specifically in piano, and should be fluent in English. They should be proficient in piano pedagogy and playing. Ideally, they will be passionate and creative about imparting both rudimentary and advanced musical concepts and piano technique. They should also be strongly self-motivated and flexible in dealing with different contexts and different levels of students and teachers.
Job description
At the Delhi School of Music, we take great pride in stimulating a student’s interest in the piano while simultaneously building a musical foundation predicated on a strong technical base.
The successful candidate will be required to take lessons for students, especially advanced students, arrange pedagogic workshops, monitor and help other piano teachers, assist in developing and finalising a piano syllabus for the piano faculty. S/he will prepare and conduct annual examinations for students and participate in student evaluation and meetings.
S/he may also help to plan and organise periodic concerts by school students and teachers and assist in other ways to support the students and the school in developing excellence in musical performance.
Nature of contract: One year, extendable by mutual agreement.
Remuneration will be negotiated based on qualifications and experience.
