Over 50 sweeping views from the Royal Opera House Mumbai can be viewed online on Google Arts & Culture by people around the world due to a new partnership between Google and the Royal Opera House Mumbai. Thanks to this new virtual tour, users will be able to see the magnificent auditorium, the Stage, the luxurious Interiors, street view of the recently restored façade, anterior spaces and original detailing that has been restored and many other treasures of the venue in just a few clicks here.

Using the Street View feature, people can move around the Royal Opera House, Mumbai virtually and click to discover more or dive into high-resolution images, where available.
A specially designed Street View ‘trolley’ took 360 degree images of selected areas of the venue which were then stitched together, enabling smooth navigation of over three levels the Stage and the main auditorium within the venue, including the entrance lobby, known historically as the Palace of Lights, the foyers, a series of delightful murals and paintings of famous poets, authors and musicians that adorn the three entrance domes in the lobby and the elaborate interior of the theatre embellished with rich detailing in cream and gold.
A specially curated virtual exhibition of the history and restoration with supporting archival material has been developed for online visitors who can discover the journey of the space as conceived by experts at The Royal Opera House, Mumbai. The digital tour takes us through the journey of the Opera House from when it first opened in 1916, became a cinema in later years, fell into disrepair by the 1990s and eventually was restored and reopened by 2016, a hundred years since being founded.
