Art Integration Conclave – First Edition
Given the National Education Policy (2020) and its emphasis on Art Integration, schools and key stakeholders have been meeting and collaborating to understand this deeper. To start with, Art is natural for a child’s expression and an integral part of his/her intelligence and holistic development. While Art Integration is actually intuitive, its execution, assessment and monitoring requires tremendous amounts of research and work.
Rhapsody, a brainchild of well-known pianist Anil Srinivasan, has been one of the pioneers in Art Integration since 2013, and has a presence in over 400 schools in Southern India. Using a combination of Music and Visual Art to teach STEM and other disciplines within the curriculum, Rhapsody’s impact can now be seen in over 300,000 children.
In 2020, Rhapsody joined hands with publication heavyweight Macmillan and their Education wing to work on an Art Integration toolkit, and their collaboration has resulted in highly successful outreach workshops for schools (done virtually), as well as syllabi creation on Art Integration.
The two entities – Rhapsody and Macmillan Education – have come together to present the first ever Art Integration Conclave on Feb 6, 2021 virtually for over 2,000 schools across India. In this conclave, they will explore the need for Art Integration, 21st century academic expectations, Art as Inspiration and methods of delivery and assessment.
