Violin learning goes digital with interactive scores and synchronised accompaniments
More than 60 violin exam pieces from ABRSM’s new bowed strings syllabus will be available to access as interactive sheet music in a landmark new partnership between ABRSM and online sheet music platform, Tomplay.
The pioneering collaboration will also mean violinists can play along to synchronised recordings of the relevant part and/or piano accompaniment.
ABRSM’s Director, Publishing Transformation, Robin Barry, said: “We know from listening to learners that choice is really important and that many musicians today want to access music and interactive learning tools online when preparing for exams and as part of their learning experience.
“The partnership with Tomplay expands our offering beyond printed books and digital sheet music downloads and is just one of the opportunities we are exploring to transform the learning experience for musicians.”
ABRSM violin students accessing music through the Tomplay app will follow scores which scroll automatically on-screen in sync with ABRSM’s official recordings. They will be able to adjust the tempo of the score’s recordings, loop passages to help with practice and record their performance.
Alexis Steinmann, Co-founder and CEO of Tomplay said: “We are delighted to start this partnership and to offer ABRSM students a unique tool to prepare for their music exams.”
