MSR Classics Joins the PARMA Recordings Family of Labels
PARMA Recordings has acquired MSR Classics and its 800-strong catalogue, expanding its growing classical portfolio and ensuring continued distribution, administration, and visibility for one of the industry’s most respected independent labels.
In a notable development for the classical recording industry, PARMA Recordings has announced the acquisition of the respected classical label MSR Classics and its catalogue of nearly 800 commercial releases.
Founded in 1998 by music industry veteran Robert LaPorta, MSR Classics has earned an international reputation for its commitment to artistic integrity and high production values, releasing orchestral, chamber, and choral recordings by artists from across the globe. The award-winning label will now become part of the GRAMMY-winning PARMA family of imprints, with PARMA assuming responsibility for MSR’s operations and administration.
The move further consolidates PARMA’s position within the classical music landscape. Established in 2008 by musician, producer, and CEO Bob Lord, PARMA Recordings has devoted itself to producing, presenting, and preserving classical and contemporary music. The organisation operates multiple label imprints, including Navona, Ravello, Big Round, Ansonica, and Albany. Following its earlier acquisition of Albany Records, PARMA now administers nearly 4,000 commercial releases, supported by full-time staff based from Los Angeles to Prague, where it runs its recording facility, Studio Martínek.

“It is an honour to welcome MSR Classics into the PARMA family,” said PARMA CEO Bob Lord. “Robert’s long commitment to creating a culture of excellence and presenting high-quality, inspired classical music recordings to audiences worldwide aligns perfectly with our philosophy here at PARMA. We are proud to ensure that the label’s prestigious catalogue continues to grow and reach new audiences.”
Over the course of nearly three decades, MSR Classics has released close to 800 titles, building a catalogue that reflects both breadth of repertoire and depth of artistic collaboration. For founder Robert LaPorta, the acquisition marks a new phase in that journey.
“The story of MSR has always been one of dedication to quality and artistic integrity,” LaPorta said. “In PARMA we have found a home that respects and preserves the legacy we’ve built and is committed to carrying it forward with creativity and ambition. This opens a wonderful new chapter for our artists, where PARMA will provide uninterrupted digital distribution, royalty administration, and continued visibility for their work.”
LaPorta will remain closely involved as Artistic Advisor, helping to guide the transition and ensure continuity in artistic direction.
PARMA has already updated and relaunched MSR’s website, maintaining the label’s historical presence while introducing newly built catalogue pages and streamlined functionality. The next round of MSR releases is expected to be announced shortly.
