My name is Zarifa Adiba. I am from Afghanistan. I am 18 years old and I am studying in grade 12 at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music. I play the Viola and conduct the first all-female orchestra in Afghanistan (Zohra). Recently, I conducted the Zohra Orchestra at the World Economic Forum in January 2017 in Davos, Switzerland and have been a panelist for the same event. Besides that, we gave a few more concerts in Zurich and Geneva in Switzerland alongside Berlin and Weimar in Germany. Our fellow German and Swiss musician friends joined us. Our Orchestra won the FREEMUSE AWARD 2017. Despite being a musician and conductor of the first all-female orchestra, I have been busy with other activities like cycling, teaching, reading and planning different projects for the awareness of my society, such as women's empowerment, Afghan youth diversity panel, promoting cycling for girls and promoting education. I have been teaching since 2015 at the Star educational society. I have graduated as a Yale Young Global Scholar in 2016. There, I attended the International Affairs and Security program. In 2015, I have also participated in Youth Solidarity and English Language program in Antalya Turkey.
