Giving Voice Society has been for the last 6 years laying the foundations of good singing in Mumbai. Through courses conducted thrice a year, the Foundation trains India’s singers of the future and provides opportunities for them to perform – recent all-Indian productions have been of Britten’s The Little Sweep in Mumbai, and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas in Mumbai, Poona, Delhi and Goa. The writer is co-founder of GVS and has worked for the past six years in India on a three months a year part time basis. Besides setting up GVS’s educational vocal foundation with his wife Patricia Rozario, he is on the Music Faculty of Goa University and has just started In Good Form, a new piano pedagogy course. Over the years he has given many collaborative concerts in various Indian cities.
