The Lisbon-based American flutist Katharine Rawdon is a Powell Artist, representing the pre-eminent American flute company as performer and master class teacher. She was Co-Principal Flute of the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa in Lisbon for 25 years, performing solo concertos by Bach, Vivaldi, Boulez, and Delgado with the principal Portuguese orchestras, orchestras in New York, and in California. She has performed by invitation at two National Flute Association conventions; as a chamber musician she was presented twice at Weill Recital Hall and won First Prize in the Yellow Springs and Artists International Debut Competition. She has performed with pianist Raj Bhimani in New York, California, Paris, India, and in Portugal for the Portuguese National Radio. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Pomona College, with honours from the Manhattan School of Music, and was a Thomas J. Watson Fellow.
