Giving Voice Society (GVS) trains Indian students in the art of western singing – both operatic and art song. For over a decade the Society has trained singers from all over India. Several have gone on to attend western colleges. GVS runs three courses a year in Indian cities, promotes performances within India, facilitates study abroad and also within India for gifted students. GVS is the brainchild of India’s acclaimed soprano Patricia Rozario, Professor of Voice at London’s prestigious Royal College of Music, one of India’s most established international artists, and her husband, renowned pianist Mark Troop. They are passionate in their belief that Indians deserve the chance to excel in western music, and to explore and fulfil their talent. In 2012 GVS trained a choir for the NCPA's double bill of opera. Since then GVS has fully produced four operas with Indian casts and production teams.
