Music should inspire change, make us question and think in a context of diversity that transforms and overwhelms.

Inspired by this credo, Akadêmia meets with potential partners all over the world to work together in ways that go beyond concert tours. Our proposals focus on the idea of sharing a Baroque music repertoire that speaks directly to each person’s heart. Meeting local artists – singers or instrumentalists – who would like to be initiated into baroque music or improve their skills, experiencing the magic of a concert with them, discovering through music everything we have in common and all we can share that goes beyond words, is how we envisage the ensemble’s activities abroad.

Since 2013, this inclusive approach has taken the form of a strong commitment in India. Akadêmia is developing an ambitious artistic cooperation programme with young professionals, in collaboration with local cultural partners and the French Institute in India. The opera Orfeo, Crossing the Ganges was highly acclaimed at its creation in New Delhi, as well as on French stages like the Cité de la Musique, l’Arsenal de Metz or the Reims Opera. This first opus opened a path for other collaborative projects with artists from Delhi, Mumbai and even Bangalore (Viva Vivaldi! and Tales of the Night), which captivated the Indian public.

In 2017 this training and cooperation programme will continue with the Songs from the Heart program as part of Bonjour India. This Festival will celebrate Innovation, Creativity and the Partnership between India and France (November 2017-February 2018).

For this project, Akadêmia is recruiting 12 very qualified Indian singers : 4 sopranos, 3 altos, 2 tenors, 3 basses.

6 French singers and 2 French instrumentalists from Akadêmia will be part of this concerts tour.

Program: Baroque and Renaissance Music around the Song of Songs and the poems by Ronsard, in dialogue with Indian poetry.

Availability required: November 11th-16th for a workshop, December 12th-23rd for rehearsals and 3 or 4 concerts all over India.

Considering the small number of singers, we only need high-level singers. They will have to be able to prepare their musical scores by themselves before the workshop.

The singers will receive a fee for the concerts and all the expenses will be taken in charge: flights, accommodation and meals.

To apply, please send us 1 mp3 with only Western classical music recorded recently to the following address ASAP BEFORE OCTOBER 8th 2017: nathalie.salle@akademia.fr
