A morning with cellos

Child’s Play India Foundation recently hosted ‘A Morning with Cellos’, an informal recital performed to an invited audience. The recital featured fifteen students of the cello project, taught by their resident cello teacher Gudrun Theodora Sigurdardottir. The solo performances included elementary and intermediate pieces and works by Bach and Beethoven, accompanied at the keyboard by Ranisa Azavedo.

The Cello Project is Child’s Play India’s ambitious attempt to raise a new generation of cellists in India. There are very few cellists in the country and even fewer cello teachers. To reach out to as many interested musicians as possible, the cello project is also open to the wider community, including adult learners. This performance included children from Hamara School, Auxilium School Caranzalem and other children from Panjim and beyond.
