Voices of Bangalore – Queens, flowers and death
June 19 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Queens, flowers and death – opera classics performed by Lena Moén (soprano) and Maria Forsström (mezzo-soprano).
Come and get transported to the world of Mozart, Puccini, Rossini and other magnificent composers. Dramatic arias and duets from some of the most beloved operas – love, hate, passion, longing and death! Life itself encapsulated in music!
Our opera queens will be accompanied on the grand piano by our own maestra Rebecca Thomas Colaco.
Maria Forsström is one of Scandinavia’s most sought-after vocal coaches and mezzo-sopranos, having a wide repertoire of opera roles and concert pieces, and have performed extensively in Scandinavia, continental Europe, Russia and Japan. Maria has performed with among others the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, and La Chambre Philharmonique.
Lena Moen is an established vocal coach, choir conductor and singer, having a wide repertoire, with a special love for Baroque music. Lena frequently works with various orchestras such as the Swedish Baroque Orchestra, the Tallin Baroque, the Nordic Chamber Orchestra and Nordland’s Baroque Orchestra, Norway.
Rebecca Thomas Colaco teaches piano and also excels as an accompanist, in addition to running a highly successful ‘Early Music’ program for little children, and providing music therapy to special needs persons. Becky’s gift for music blossomed during the 12 years she trained with Mrs Louise Pinto and the 20+ years she has been associated with the Bangalore School of Music. As a performing artist, Becky looks forward to continually expanding her repertoire and playing with chamber music ensembles.
