South Asian Symphony Orchestra

Bengaluru-based South Asian Symphony Foundation presents Chiragh, a concert by the South Asian Symphony Orchestra (SASO) promoting cultural diplomacy through music, among the eight nations of South Asia. SASO’s musicians are entirely from the South Asian diaspora. The concert featuring classical works by Beethoven, Bizet, Brahms, Mozart, Puccini and Félicien David will be conducted by Houston-based Viswa Subbaraman. Sri Lankan-born Tharanga Goonetilleke of New York will be the vocal soloist. A specially commissioned orchestral work, Hamsafar: A Journey through South Asia will be premiered with actor Kabir Bedi as the narrator. Another commissioned work by the Indian American composer Kamala Sankaram, titled “Bhadke” will be premiered.
