Bangalore Classical Guitar Festival & Competition

June 11, 2019 @ 7:00 pm

Since last year, The Bangalore School of Music and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) have been celebrating a unique two-day festival of classical guitar in Bengaluru by honouring four celebrated Indian and foreign artists who need no introduction to guitar audiences the world over.

On June 11, at 5:00 pm, India’s very own Aditya Gandhi, who has performed at prestigious concert halls the world over, and is currently touring India with a concert series takes the stage.

Aditya uses his non-western classical music background to explore his musical creativity from this ‘outsider’s’ view and his concerts revolve around a theme/narrative. His goal is to shake up preconceived notions modern audiences have about ‘art music’, by collaborating and curating concert experiences in a way that is more accessible and reflective of contemporary culture.

Surely a concert worth being a part of!

As a counterpoint to Aditya, we have Gerard Abiton from France at 6:15. With his over 3 decades of performing, teaching and judging prestigious competitions the world over, Gerard Abiton is always renewing his repertoire in quest of musical emotions, unbelievable perfection, and simple happiness, which he transmits to his audience.
